Calvert House Tutoring

Calvert House offers tutoring for 2nd to 12th grade students on Tuesdays and Wednesdays following school and on Saturdays in both the morning and afternoon. Whether you are a U of C student interested in tutoring or a parent interested in enrolling your student in the tutoring program, please contact Matthew Moran. Calvert House Tutoring is a Recognized Student Organization of the University of Chicago.

Donation Drives

  • Trick or Treat for Canned Goods annually during the month of October. Nonperishable items are for St. Columbanus Food Pantry.
  • Hats, gloves, mittens and winter gear drive during the month of December to benefit the Homeless Food Run.
  • On-Going collection of clothing and home goods for Su Casa Catholic Worker, including an Anything Drive at the end of the school year.
  • Operation Rice Bowl for Catholic Relief Services during Lent.

Homeless Food Run

Students meet weekly at Calvert House to prepare bagged meals and then bring the meals into parts of the city where people need meals. The Homeless Food Run is a Recognized Student Organization of the University of Chicago. The Port Ministries

Once a month during the school year, the Homeless Food Run coordinates a group of students once a month to go on The Bread Truck- a soup kitchen on wheels- that travels around neighborhoods on the Southside of Chicago. Please see the calendar for the most up-to-date schedule.

Respect Life

This is newly re-established Registered Student Organization on campus. Please contact Katie for more information or to get involved.

Blanket Making

Each winter, the Catholic Student Association sponsors this event where students come together to make fleece blankets for the children of Su Casa Catholic Worker.
